'Moonstone'

Firstly, this is a picture heavy post!
Secondly, this soap is not what I had planned to post on at this moment, but I like so much how it turned out, that it won't wait for its turn to make its appearance  :-) ! This is what I call 'soap protectionism', lol!

I was aiming to different effect than I got, but overall, I'm thrilled with it. However, I'm going to do another batch, or two, to achieve what I had wanted to.
And now,..... presenting.... the 'Moonstone'!

Here it is a picture of the wet soap

This soap is scented in Rice flower, which is gorgeous, feminine and luxury-smell fragrance. I simply adore it.
It's perfume like and I wished for a moment to make a ton of soap and all possible toiletries scented with it. It contains silk as an ultimate luxury touch.

A short ago, I made Lemon Verbena soap and I totally misunderstood the fragrance name. In fact, I thought it was Lemon + Verbena, I never knew there was a plant with the name Lemon Verbena. So, since the verbena is a type of flower, I thought it would be convenient to follow the colorite of the flowers. Of course, I was completely wrong, Lemon verbena is a plant with so small, white or yellow flowers,  totally different than I chose for my soap.
So, this time I did a little google prep, to find out what Rice flower looks like. And this is what I found:

That's where I started from. So, the colours were chosen. OK, the sky is not part of the plant, but it makes such a harmony with it, so I kept it. Additionally, I added black for the dramatic, striking effect and I'm glad I did.

I have taken soooo many photos of this soap, so excuse my showing off.

Then, I had no idea what name would be descriptive enough for this soap.
Here it is why it got this one:

This is the semi precious stone and I like to think it my soap resembles it.

What did I do? I poured the white at once and then poured the blue portion. I let it break through the white and then made a 'hanger swirl'. I did the same with all colours, making sure that my hanger goes shallower with every new pouring.
What did I want? I wanted thinner, fine lines (but I knew they wouldn't be, as I had taken out too much of the batter for colour portions), going deeper through the soap. Maybe next time I get closer to that look.

If you're still reading - thank you for staying with me till the end!
Have a wonderful weekend!

    1. Thanks Marika, I'm glad you like it. I think none of the pic is nearly as beautiful as the soap in person. That's why i took so many, I was satisfied with none!

  2. Let me tell you, Maja, that the wet soap is pure heaven, this is certainly one of the most wet soap I have seen recently! Love the colours, and the swirls. Very ineresting technique, it's more like drop technique , if I got it right, and then using the hanger?
    Congratulations, Maja!

    1. Thanks Nat! Well, 'drop' is everything you pour, right? But,unlike regular droplet, which is rather random pour, this is more controlled and only length wise in straight lines. It's more precise and I was wondering whether I'd done it right. Interesting, I had pictured different look in my mind, but I was satisfied how accurately I estimated the depth of dipping the hanger.

  6. Moonstone is the perfect name for this beautiful soap, Maja! I love the colors you chose, and the bit of black is very dramatic. The swirled tops are so pretty. Sounds like a neat variation of the hanger swirl technique, too. Thanks for sharing your method!
