'Not for vegans'!
No matter how many restrictions it might have for someone, it's so special to me, by its ingredients, appearance and its fragrance!

A while back, Ksenija was so thrilled with her lanolin soap, that my desire for it had dramatically evolved from the latent and somewhere- at- the - bottom wish list, to its top. I had read about lanolin before and always had wanted to try it, but since my list is always longer than my budget can endure, somehow I had always put it astray. Since recently, when I finally got it! Lanolin is not only great moisturizer and natural emollient, I was amazed by the fact it actually can trap water into your skin and keep it there, even after you wash your skin. That's the reason why it's so widely used for baby, pregnant women, even lipsticks, eye- shadows and the list goes on. If you're interested to read more, visit this link, (Ksenija's post is in Serbian) where I found many interesting facts about lanolin.
I took the photo bellow to show you how it looks. It's a wax, so it's viscous, thick and the smell is really specific.
For this soap recipe, which contains also cocoa butter, goat milk and lard, I added lanolin at 2%.
I will probably share my impressions on the soap properties on my Facebook page, once I try it.

my last order was extended with this skin loving 'caramel' - LANOLIN |
Blue speckles on the top are coloured sugar.
I see this soap as dramatic, whimsical, unique, unusual, droll, and overall, it smells so goooood as if it screamed: 'Grab me'! That's how it has become: 'Impulsive'!

The fragrance: I think there is no point of describing 'Love Spell' by 'Victoria's Secret', so many of you know it- fruity, tart, cheerful, enticing, unisex- I would say all-seasons- fragrance.
I think lanolin made the colours darker than they were originally, but they are still fine, giving the soap even more dramatic look.
I'm pretty happy with it and I hope you like it, too!
Wish you all happy beginning of the new working week!

NEXT DAY EDIT: Just one collage of shaped soaps and a note.
My fragrance oil is actually named 'Loving Hex', which I thought it might be 'Love Spell', by the description of 'Love Spell' I had found on internet. Then, yesterday, before I published my post, I went out and came around to a perfume shop. I grabbed 'Love Spell' and it was it! I was right, my fragrance oil was a great dupe! But, somehow, I never saw this fragrance purple. The original is bottled in purple and that was not how I feel it should look like! The mandarin note, which predominates, I hardly see as purple. When creating my soaps, I always choose my colours based on the fragrance, ingredients and design. I don't believe I would have chosen purple even if I had known beforehand that original was purple. What do you, who know this fragrance, think?
I love the design and colors of this soap! Did you put a divider in the center to create 2 neat columns of "scales"? What did you use to get that gorgeous blue? I have also been curious about lanolin but I think it might smell too "sheepy"?
ReplyDeleteThanks, Silvia! No, I didn't use a divider. I poured the batter in a faux-funnel manner, in 4 different spots (two on the one end and two one the another end of the mould). Honestly, I didn't believe it was going to be that perfectly divided in half.
DeleteBlue is peacock blue pigment, the same one I used in 'Beloved' (http://divasoap.blogspot.com/2013/11/beloved.html) and the 'Moonstone' (http://divasoap.blogspot.com/2013/10/moonstone.html), but in this particular case, it got darker. I mentioned in the post that I think lanolin had made the colours darker.
Lanolin smells somewhat 'animal', but you don't smell it, not even in the batter. I added cocoa butter, as well and I really couldn't detect lanolin itself. Needless to say that there is no hint of it in the finished, scented soap.
Wow Maja, another awesome soap! What do you use for coloring your soap? These colors are so vibrant and beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks Renata, I'm happy with this one so much! But please, save your words, I made a soap the other night and was wondering:' God, have I ever made the most beautiful soap?', and the hubby was like:' This is the most wonderful soap I have ever seen!' (he's seen many, and of course, all mine)!
DeleteGenerally, I use oxides, ultramarines, micas. I got my pigments from Germany and Austria. Please, e-mail me, if you need more detailed info.
Wow, Maja! Difficult to find the words to describe this unique soap of yours! It looks special and I like your palette of colors! What about lanoline: wow, I will have to try it once in a soap too, I am really curious about it!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, Maja, your soaps are more and more beautiful!
Oh dear, thanks! Lanolin is a promising ingredient, not only for soaps, but for butters and creams, too. I need to try it in some of these.
DeleteStunning, Maja! I thought at first that you must have used a divider, too, to get such perfect halves, but I see in the comments that you did two faux funnel pours on each end of the mold. What a great idea - the effect is so gorgeous! The little shaped soaps are beautiful, too.
ReplyDeleteThanks Jenny! I suppose I had a 'lucky hand' with these perfect halves, but yes, the effect is so neat and unusual. I like little soaps, they are so fun and cheerful and more beautiful live!
A i to me posebno raduje!
I love the design of the soap Maja, it's super cool! And the colours really pop, it's a wonderful thing to have when the weather is so dreary out. You certainly know how to choose colours that work beautifully with each other. I wish once again we had smell-o-vision because I would love to get a whiff.
ReplyDeleteThanks,Monica for your compliments! It's easy to get picture of how this one smells like: just go to the nearest perfume store and look for 'Love Spell' by Victoria's Secret'- and that's it!
DeleteMaja this soap is gorgeons Indeed. Botha the swirl and the colours are a Great success! I Will try this method...
ReplyDeleteThanks Valerie, glad you like it. I must admit, I got this swirls almost randomly, but I know what I was doing, so it wasn't tough to recreate it.
DeleteAs I said in my latest post, seeing others' doing this techinque (or similar) , I remembered I had told myself I need to repeat this design. That's how I decided on Femina 2 design.
Looking forward to seeing yours!
